It sounds like you need help on your homework. The way you phrase your question is obscure though.
Area is equal to length times width. A= L x W .
The formula will work on both a square or rectangle. The second part of your question where Jerome made the patio and if the pond fits within the patio then the pond is obviously smaller than the patio. If the pond is 5m square then just multiply 5 times 5 and that equals 25.
