Design it yourself. I did -- and built it myself -- and had no experience before hand. I read every book available on the subject -- and used NONE of the info. The local stone supplier helped the most with info on various design and building options. The experience taught me bunches if I were to ever do it again, which I won't -- it took almost two years to build a rough-cut field stone patio with three levels over 600 ft. sq.
